Figure 1.The development of a 25-year-old plantation of h-asp (Ekebomix). The plantation borders next to the just described and harvested poplar plantation in Näsbyholm. The plantation is ¾ ha large and is located on an area of land with an organic soil and with an excellent water-holding capacity in the south of Sweden. The length of the growing season is 220 days, temperature sum >5oC during the growing season is 1577 daydegrees, solar radiation during the growing season is 795 kWh/m2 (for the whole year 973 kWh/m2), the average annual precipitation during the growing season 426 mm (628 mm). The area was planted with the design of 3 x 3 m and today there are standing 870 stems per ha. Dividing the production results with 3 and you will obtain the woody biomass production in ton DM per ha and year (Christersson 2011).
